Job Summary: Under direction of Principal, prepare superior quality engineering designs, calculations, plans, and provide construction administration for moderate to complex projects in service to the firm?s clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

?Maintain open and effective communication with Principal and Associate as required.

?Provide advanced structural design of projects in collaboration with clients, with assistance from Principal and Associate as required.

?Perform calculations conforming to building code as support for structural design.

?Work closely with clients and other consultants for thorough project coordination, attending and initiating meetings as required.

?Draw and mark up plans, elevations, details, etc. and give to drafting team for production; draft own work when required.

?Submit work products for Principal?s review at scheduled intervals, prior to delivery to client.

?Provide client support as required to obtain agency approvals of construction documents.

?Provide construction administration services such as reviewing submittals, answering RFI?s, performing site visits, writing field reports, preparing revision drawings, etc.

?Sign correspondence on behalf of firm when requested by Principal.

?Provide work products with nearly no errors or omissions and with little guidance.

?Provide initiative and effort to continuously advance professional and technical knowledge.

?Maintain positive attitude toward accomplishing daily work requirements and achieving firm?s Mission and Strategic Plan.

?Daily track and record time expenditure in timecard.

?Follow and model policies in BPA Employee Handbook.

?Mentor staff engineer(s) as requested by Principal or Associate (refer to Mentor Job Description).

?Act as Technology Liaison for designated technology association.

?Perform other related duties as required.

Abilities, Skills, and Knowledge:

?Engineering expertise and judgment consistent with the type and level of work to be performed.

?Excellent communication with employees and clients both verbally and through written correspondence.

?Advanced expertise in timber, steel, masonry, and concrete design and construction.

?Advanced expertise in earthquake engineering.

?Skill in utilizing email, internet, various engineering, drafting, and productivity computer software.

?Maintain professionalism in a variety of circumstances while under pressure.

?Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work requests from multiple sources.
