Description:The Patient Access Specialist provides patient
access and administrative support to the Patient Access Department
which includes, processing of patient pre-admission, admission,
transfer, and discharge activities under the guidance and
supervision of the Patient Access and Health Information
Manager.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES1. Perform patient
pre-admission, admission, transfer, and discharge activities.2.
Work under the guidance of Patient Access Supervisor.3. Collect and
validate patient demographic and insurance information.4. Obtain
health, financial and religious information from patients at the
time of referral and transfer the information to EHR.5. Prepare
patient identification band and complete admission papers.6. Obtain
signatures for financial responsibility and treatment procedures
from patients or guardians.7. Receive and store patient's valuables
and other belongings as requested.8. Respond to patient concerns
and inquiries professionally.9. Maintain positive working
relationships with patients, physicians, visitors, and hospital
staffs.10. Contact insurance companies for patient medical billing
operations.11. Interact with hospital administrations to perform
effective patient operations.12. Work in compliance with policies
and procedures and adheres to government regulations.13. Update
various tracking systems (i.e., referral logs, admission calendar,
and status logs).14. Update patient status in Electronic Medical
Record System (EMR) such as admissions and transfers.15. Coordinate
delivery and pick up of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) with
vendors, hospital, family, staff and others as
needed.Requirements:Job Qualifications--- A minimum one year
insurance verification and eligibility preferred; focus on
front-end workflow and processes preferred.--- Bachelor's degree
desired. Equivalent demonstrated experience a plus.--- Basic
computer proficiency is required in MS Office Suite.--- Electric
Medical Record experience highly preferred (i.e. Netsmart or
similar systems)--- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus. Note: The

assigned.PHYSICAL & OTHER JOB SPECIFICATIONS1. Able to hear, speak,
read, write, and/or type well enough to perform required job
duties.2. Able to communicate well in English (spoken and written)
is required.3. Able to use computer in order to perform required
job duties.4. Able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.5. Able to use
standard business office equipment safely.6. Ability to sit for
long periods of time while conducting work assignments.7. If
driving on YoloCares business, must have a valid California
driver's license and state-required automobile
